mmm-yoso!!! is back again on this chilly day. Kirk is busy with His Missus on another continent and Cathy is writing another post.
My last post about Tofu House was in 2020 when we had to eat outside, because, you know, Covid-19.
The menu is on the wall, or you can scan a QR code and read the menu on your phone.
The Mister wanted Boiled Tofu, and it was furiously boiling when brought to the table! He had ordered the 'Chef's Special' ($13) which included shrimp, pollack roe, clam, oyster, mushroom and kimchi. (white rice is included, but the multigrain rice option is an extra $2; get it). Great, fresh seafood and smooth, satisfying tofu.
I've been craving something from a hot stone pot (because crispy rice). Ordering the "Chef's Special Hot Stone" ($20) was just the flavor filled melange I wanted. Marinated beef rib eye as well as beef short ribs over the sizzling rice, topped with plump shrimp and small but flavorful scallops really hit the spot.
A flavor filled, warming and satisfying lunch. This location has a better parking situation than the Convoy Street location.

glad it satisfied your cravings:)

Mmm... I'll have to try this place. I usually get my tofu from the supermarket.

I do like crispy rice, kat.
Soon-du-bu is always a great find, Soo. In this weather, it's more fun than just soup. There are nine Boiled Tofu items on the menu (one does not include tofu and one is a "as you wish" choice) with each one being tasty.

I also prefer the Mira Mesa location, mostly because it's closer to home and parking is not an issue. Boiled tofu sounds great on a chilly day, and I love the stone pot rice. I'll try the seafood with the stone pot next time.

A little different than soup or stew for a warming meal, Sandy. I ordered a rice stone pot so we could each have half of something different. Ordering the seafood is a 'fancy' upgrade without being too crazy.
