kat

glad they have survived the pandemic!

Cathy

So many family owned businesses (as well as a few chains) have not survived and it is good to be able to continue to be able to patronize La Casa Blanca, Kat.

I really miss the cocteleria that used to be on clairemont mesa. Is this one worth driving to? I have been under the assumption that I have to go to TJ for amazing coctels.

Cathy

Oh yes, La Playita, https://mmm-yoso.typepad.com/mmmyoso/2008/10/la-playita--a-r.html was a great place, Dereck. La Casa Blanca is close to home for us and the cocteles are consistently good; I had noticed some taco shops serving smaller shrimp/inferior cocteles for a while during Covid and was disappointed many times. My other favorite place to get a quality coctele is at Las Morelianas(the back half of the restaurant is La Bahia and the 'seafood' part of the menu) https://mmm-yoso.typepad.com/mmmyoso/2017/07/las-morelianasla-bahia-revisits.html

Ah! La Bahia it will be as soon as I can get down there. Maybe tomorrow. I've been craving cocteles!

Cathy

Remember it is Mother's Day, Dereck. Both of these establishments might be busy.

It's good to patronize the long standing spots that have stood the test off time. It's been a rough two years for those in the restaurant business. Makes me happy to see that many of my fave places down south are still around but there have been so many casualties as well. Your shrimp coctail looks so good and very filling.

Cathy

I seem to be ordering a coctele whenever I see it on menus lately, cc. There are a couple of smaller taco shops that do it very well. La Casa Blanca is in a good location and to see they have survived through all of this is satisfying.
