I was just here yesterday with some friends at the new Bing Haus. We were wondering what happened to the old taco shop. Wow, another dessert place within steps of each other.

Oh no... Sprouts is sprouting up everywhere... I went to Keil's a few times. I reminded me of the old Safeways.

Kirk

Hi CC - Yes...though I've been told more food/beer oriented than their other location.

Keils has been here almost 30 years Soo....I feel bad for the employees, many of whom have spent decades with the company.

Any news on the place that was opening up in the old Pangea bakery?

Cindy Woo

What about the second location of Keils in San Carlos/La Mesa?

Kirk

Hi Ken - You know, I saw some activity in the old Pangaea location, but nothing since. Only the place across the driveway. So I'm not sure what's going on.

Hi Cindy - I think that location should be fine. The lease was up on the Clairemont location and it was not renewed.

Jessica

It's always possible Sprouts will keep much of the old staff from Keil's. I don't have any information on that; it's just a guess. But it's totally possible.

As for the taco shop, that thing was there forever, it seemed. I'm surprised to hear it closed.

Kirk

It is Jessica. However, Keils is closing I believe next month and Sprouts is not set to open until mid-2017.

Junichi

Wonder who's gonna take over the shuttered Hometown Buffet? Anything will be an upgrade to that.

Kirk

I haven't heard anything on that one yet Junichi.
