too bad about the rice.

i'm glad you made it to vancouver. i read your blog on a daily basis and i love it. it'll be interesting to understand your reflections on the 'grittiness" you encountered in vancouver-after all, we locals are used to it but it seems to feature on tourists' accounts of our city. i believe vancouver's edginess is harmless at the most. :) i myself think vancouver suffers from a lack of character but that's my opinion. as always, i looks forward to reading your additions to mmm-yoso.

Hi Kat - I know; otherwise it would be an even more amazing meal.

Hi Melissa - Thanks so much for reading our little blog. That statement was directed at the area around Gastown. Most cities have the area that is basically in "transition", it's older, there's a mix of street people, tourists, shops, pahhandlers, etc. It looks a bit edgy. I believe I mentioned that Vancouver is a bit less so than the Pioneer Square area in Seattle. I felt very safe in Vancouver; more so than in most cities in the US. Coming from a tourist, I think that Vancouver has character....we really enjoyed the attitudes.

Junichi

Never heard of a place that does aburi sushi exclusively. Most sushi places only have a few items on their menu done that way. Too bad about the rice. Good shari is often overlooked in the West.

Kirk

That rice really brought the whole meal down Junichi.
