What a wonderful vacation day! I'm most curious about the tomato water and sardines-because of the wonderful descriptions and photos. We've experienced some 'traditional' Portuguese food in the Point Loma area out here, but now I want to try more.

Classy establishment! I'm impressed by the water they serve. I'm usually good with just Pellegrino... Gotta visit Sonoma some day. Looks nice.

Tomato water, now that is something new to try. Great post Ed. Sonoma is an area that my family and I haven't explored yet.

Glad all you folks liked the post. We had a good day just hanging out and enjoying. I had spent more time tasting around Healdsburg back in the day, so it was great to focus this time on the town of Sonoma. Things are still more leisurely in Sonoma than across the mountains in Napa.

La Salette was pretty impressive. The tomato water must have been filtered to remove the color. As for the sardines, when I lived in Monterey, they were rare fish in the bay. Basically they'd almost all been canned and turned into fertilizer. But the population seems to be increasing. I have had them grilled in Mty, but these specimens were better.

Sounds and looks like a sophisticated meal. I would have liked the plate clean. 😁
