ooh so you'll be back in Barcelona in no time, nice!

I hope so Kat!

When I went years ago our hostel was in Plaza Real so seeing that picture reminded me of lots of late nights sitting around that fountain :) Agreed that Las Ramblas is best in small doses: my sister got pickpocketed there and after a while all the vendors with the weird whistles selling beers they hide in trashcans (does that still happen??) were a bit trying.

One experience that might be a bit less fun for the more crowd averse but I thought was quite impressive was going to a Barcelona game. It seems the whole city is sporting Barca jerseys and the entire subway train to Camp Nou is on the way to the game. Once you get off you just follow the tide of blue and stop at bars to grab cold beers and bocadillos. At the stadium, even though it was a not a game of any relevance, the intensity with which everyone takes the game was crazy.

Hey JS - Didn't see anyone doing trashcan beers....though we didn't spend much time on Las Ramblas. They sure are crazy about their Dragons....things must have been nuts when they beat Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid for the La Liga title.....
