Keep up the good work on your orange donut quest! :-) Have you ever tried an orange cookie? Mother's made them up to the 80's. I've seen them a few times at VG Donuts.

The only other orange donut I've found is at Rose Donuts, Soo http://mmm-yoso.typepad.com/mmmyoso/2014/05/rose-donuts-near-usd-breakfast-and-the-elusive-blueberry-fritter-1.html I need to check out VG, thanks.

Sometimes I think you have been to every single independent donut purveyor in SD county. I am amazed and jealous.

Yay, Petersons! I like the quirky hand chairs and the old time looking logo on the paper bag. Nice to know they are open 24/7, for when you want donuts at 3 am. :)

There are orange donuts at Doughnut Hut in Burbank that you might like.

Sandy

I've never had an orange donut until I had one at Donut Panic (Mission Gorge Road near Kaiser). Not bad, but the one you describe in Italy sounds yummier.

Cathy

We try, Ed. I think in addition to Taco Shops and someplace selling pizza, every neighborhood also has a donut shop.

We do like Peterson's and find it interesting how so many of the established Donut Shops are 24/7, cc. I will put Burbank on my 'exit' list!

I saw Donut Panic had an orange chocolate vegan choice on Saturday, Sandy, but I couldn't get there...Now I'm determined to find something close to the Naples perfection we had.
