Thanks for the heads-up! As luck would have it, we're driving back to San Diego from Tucson that day, so we may well stop by.

Carol

I love tamales but unfortunately won't be able to make it out for this year's festival. (sniff sniff)

Dennis

Wow great writing Ed! And that festival sounds like great fun. So much I didn't know about the tamal.. I think I'd like mine with three olives, one for each bite! ;)

ed (from Yuma)

yeh, mike, stop by. It's a hoot. Toop bad, Carol, I know things get busy this time of year. Thanks for the compliment, Dennis. I've had a tamal with two olives, but never three. Maybe this is my lucky year.

Thank you for the wonderful post and reminder! When you posted last year, I went ahead and made a large batch and gave them to family members. I remember them being REALLY good. Something about the masa being very flavorful. I'm sweating now, hoping that I remembered to save that recipe. I suppose I'll find out when I get home.

Hmmmm....13th....13th...We just drove back from the Bay Area, so I don't want to think about driving....not just yet anyway. ;)

yes very interesting tidbits of tamale lore! wish I could make it out, I love home made tamales... gotta put that in my calendar for next year then.

Roger

Aw duuude! I go bananas over tamales! Wish San Diego would have one of these.
