Just a round-up of odds and ends.....
Korean Meat Market:
About 2 weeks ago, I went to grab some sushi at Sammys, and was rather surprised to see a new Korean Meat Market....named, well, Korean Meat Market, occupying the former location of a software store right next to Sammys and Dae Jang Keum. It seemed to have sprung up over night.
It is an interesting location for a market, on a side street, and 2 blocks away from Zion Market. This looks like a small Mom and Pop operation, and I hope they do well.

Pho Hiep and Grill:
While driving through Canyon Plaza in Chula Vista, I noticed a sign announcing a new Pho restaurant will be opening. I took this horrendously bad photo with camera in one hand while steering with the other. The name is Pho Hiep and Grill, they have a website that is currently just a single page. I'm pretty sure that this is the first Pho restaurant in the area. It will be located right next to Mandarin Canton in Canyon Plaza on Telegraph Canyon Road. Any relation to Pho Hoa Hiep? I know that the Mira Mesa location had just closed.
Serbian Festival:
I saw this sign on Clairemont Drive today, announcing the annual Serbian Festival at St George Serbian Orthodox Church.
Just so I don't Pho-get:
Speaking of Pho, FOY (Friend of Yoso) Jenne created a neat map of all the Pho places we've posted on in San Diego. You can check it out here. Thanks Jenne!
We hope everyone is having a great weekend!
hi kirk
ooh, a pho place in chula vista, more specifically, five minutes away from my places! i rarely drive by canyon plaza since parking is horrendous at time and i dislike the traffic on telegraph.
i just may go to this place when it opens...
the only other pho place in cv that i know of (don't know if it's still there though) is pho vinh on broadway in eastern c.v. (it's next to a tattoo parlor).

Hey Kirk! I noticed the Korean Meat Market on Thursday when I drove by after having lunch at Chopstix. I chuckled at all the possible puns...

hey kirk,
last weekend we went to pho hoa hiep and i saw a flyer on the front door the the new pho hiep and grill. i didn't look closely enough to see the address, but i assume it was referring to the place you mentioned. so yes, it is related.

Hey Kirk,
The owners of Pho Hiep & Grill used to own Pho Hoa Hiep. They changed location because of competitions. Their website is not done yet but will soon be=).

Hi Reynila - Pho Vinh - never heard of that one - maybe I'll check it out. Canyon Plaza can be crazy....especially those entrances!
Hi Omar - Thanks....it was not fun.
Hi Carol - Ah, yes, all kinds of puns.......
Hi Dave - Hmmm, thanks, I was wondering about it.
Hi IWF - Thanks for the info.....

pho vinh is on the western side of chula vista, on broadway - (northern chula vista). if you're heading north on broadway, it's on the right hand side. the last time i went was last year - don't know if they're still around. be warned - they are skimpy with their garnishes for pho.
