Docrailgun

So, how was the "pepecorn sauce" (from the first menu picture)?

Kirk

They were out of the Spicy Chicken Doc......the Laghman didn't use peppercorns....and wasn't spicy either. Though if you enjoyed sodium.....

kat

hopefully they can up their game

Kirk

I hope so Kat!

Som Tommy

Thanks for the report. I will wait a while before eating there.

Kirk

That might be a wise move ST.

RedDevil

Have you been to any of these type of restaurants in OC/LA (Ma's/Omar's)? How did it compare?

Kirk

Hey RD:

http://mmm-yoso.typepad.com/mmmyoso/2011/09/roadtrip-omars-xinjiang-halal-restaurant-alhambra-la.html

Were both better.

RedDevil

Thanks for the links. Your review of Omar's is pretty funny and if Kroran is even worse than that, it is definitely not a good sign. BTW your homemade dish you posted in the Omar's review looks delicious. Thanks again.

Kirk

One caveat on the Omar's versus Kroran thing RD. The folks I've dealt with at Kroran are really nice. So, I'm going to be sure to follow-up in the few months.

Junichi

I noticed they opened when I drove by the other day while making a Sprouts run. Thanks for the intel. I'll stay away for now.

Kirk

I hope they improve over time Junichi.

Faye

We tried to visit for a weekend lunch about two weeks ago and it was an hour+ wait. I've never tried Halal (Asian) food so I was exited to try this place. My mom and her co worker visited for dinner and she had same opinions as you (food wasn't very good). She would not revisit again. I was surprised by the beef shank appetizer as other pictures showcase it with the beautiful chili oil. Perhaps I'll wait awhile for crowds to die down and dishes to improve.

Kirk

I had friends who visited last week too Faye.....they wanted to like the place; but were totally let down. Hopefully they improve over time.

Black Belt Jonez

Hi Kirk!

I'm glad I read your post before checking the place out myself. Looks like I'll be giving them some time as well.

Kirk

Hey BBJ - I think perhaps waiting a a few weeks might be a good idea!
